I Bought an Amish Store...Part 3: What's for Lunch?

I Bought an Amish Store...Part 3: What's for Lunch?

I don’t think I’m the only one.  Tell me if I’m wrong.  I believe that LUNCHtime is the highlight of the American worker’s day.

As far back as I can remember, lunch has consistently been a high point each day.  I can remember being in first grade at Vena Stuart Elementary in Gallatin, TN.  Like the other growing children in my class, I was always ready for lunch.  I had a lunchbox that was shaped like a school bus (which I loved) that I toted around while wearing pigtails…Every…Single…Day.  Each day I wondered what my mother had packed for me.  It was usually peanut butter and grape jelly which was just fine with me.

Experts will tell you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  I’m not too sure about this.  As a working adult, LUNCH is not only important for our physical well-being.  LUNCHtime allows us to take a break, get out of the office, shop, store, etc.  LUNCHtime allows us the opportunity to either spend time with our friends/co-workers, or a chance to get as far away from them as possible and still make it back to work within an hour.

Miss Carla, my daughter Rebekah, and I have recently started serving lunch at Bryant's Country Store.  So far, so good!  We have gotten to meet some really nice people who have come in to pick up their most important meal of the day.  It is really fun to fix lunch with the good products that we have at the store.  Our meats and cheeses come from Troyer, which is an Amish company.  They only sell the best!  Now obviously, the meats & cheeses are very important, but many of you are thinking…what about the bread?  As long as I can remember, I have loved bread more than just about anything!  My friend, Melissa, makes fun of me for always asking for more bread at restaurants.  Well, as a bread connoisseur (did I spell that right?), I am pleased to tell you that we make our sandwiches with bread from Schlabach’s Bakery in Guthrie, KY (the sourdough is amazing!).  This Amish bakery supplies us with fresh bread and desserts that will keep you coming back for more!

Well, to sum up my long love letter to LUNCHtime…we hope that you stop by for your most important meal of the day.  You can order in advance through our website so that your lunch is ready for pick up...we don't want you wasting any of your lunch hour!  We currently offer Cajun Turkey, Roast Beef, Smokehouse Ham, German Bologna, & Chicken Salad.  We hope to see you soon!
