Pot-Bellied Pigs, Gothic Gift Shops, She-Sheds & More

Pot-Bellied Pigs, Gothic Gift Shops, She-Sheds & More

People are fascinating.

I have always had a service job of some sort or another, so I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of diverse folks.

After two years of selling our Amish-built storage buildings, I have discovered that one of the most interesting ways to get to know people is to ask them what they are going to use their barn for.

Of course, most of the time it is for the typical lawn mower, outdoor tools, tubs of clothes, etc., or it is used for a wood shop.  Some of the time, it is for customers' babies...furbabies that is.  Yes, customers will often convert these barns as homes for their dogs, goats, chickens, PARROTS, & pot-bellied pigs

We even had a recent customer order their barn to display their goth-inspired collectibles.  I may have to follow up with them for a picture of the completed project!

Often, the barn is a place to escape from the rest of the family.  You know what I am talking about...Man Caves & She Sheds.  As a wife and a mother, I am intrigued at the notion of having my own sanctuary for reading, or just working quietly without distraction.  Yes, I know that is a pretty boring fantasy, but I am just getting less crafty with age.  Most of my she-shed customers are quilters, weavers, potters, or gardeners.

A great example of this is the picture of the Lake Lodge Barn that accompanies this article.  It belongs to a customer named Linda.  Linda took great care to decorate her she-shed for autumn.  I don't know what is inside of this hideaway, but I am imagining a comfy upholstered chair (that reclines), books, frilly curtains, a sewing table, and maybe a mini-fridge.

So, I suppose the question is....

How would you use your Man Cave or She-Shed?

Will it be a gamer's paradise?
A shrine to all things sports?
Or will it be home base for your growing Etsy Store?
Tell us your ideas!
